Planning, Opening, Closing
An opening paragraph is the first impression the reader gets about the story and the writer, hence it is the most important of the story. The conclusion, or the closing paragraph, of a story is the most neglected part. However, more thought should be put into consideration because it is an important element as it can leave the reader either in admiration or in anguish.

Students will learn:

✔ To understand the assessment requirements for continuous writing
✔ To evaluate the quality of compositions
✔ To apply critical questioning to analyze questions
✔ To adopt planning strategies for plot development
✔ To develop skills for effective opening and closing paragraphs

In your story, your main character carries the entire story from beginning to end.

Therefore, we need a character with a combination of any of the following:

✔ Captivating Appearance
✔ Unique Personality
✔ Deep thoughts and  Extraordinary Capabilities (i.e., actions).

Your story needs a strong supporting cast to move the story forward and make the story more interesting.

Students will learn:

✔ To understand the functions of paragraphs
✔ To understand the impact of different sentence structures
✔ To use different sentence structures effectively
✔ To apply wide vocabulary and appropriate phrases that describe feelings and five senses

Language – Sentences, Paragraphs and Feeling Words
A writer must be familiar with the different structures of sentences for readers to understand the story. A paragraph in a narrative is a group of sentences expressing a series of thoughts upon a single event in a story.

A good writer uses the rest of the story to show readers how the developed characters move the plot. As the story develops, the reader must feel greater empathy for and awareness of the characters’ emotions and the writer needs to show (not tell) the readers how the characters feel in the story.

Students will learn:

✔ To understand the impact of the speech in a composition
✔ To use speeches effectively
✔ To apply wide vocabulary and appropriate phrases that describe engagements among characters

Over just 4 sessions, your child will grasp effective strategies to craft excellent compositions with rich vocabulary and perfect grammar! 😃
